Hardwood Flooring

I'm having a quote done today for hardwood in my family room. We have wood floors through out the downstairs but not in the family room. In addition, the guy had a cancellation and could do it early next week. Chairs, TV console and a new coffee table will make my dreams come true. Add drapes and I will be in complete bliss. (after I do a bit more tweaking, ha) Fingers crossed, girls. I might actually get my family room exactly the way I want it. My hubby has NO idea how I might show my gratitude!!!

I would LOVE to have hardwood flooring. But, we have a Lab and he would tear it up I'm told.

I loved my hardwoods at my old pier and beam house. They were waxed. I've moved on stained concrete. Hope all goes well.

Funny...I have hardwood all through my main floor and I want to carpet half of it!!!! I like the wood in the entry, kitchen, and dining areas, but I long for cushy, lie-on-it-and-watch-tv carpet in the great room, the office, and a runner up the steps. A team of investigators could collect endless DNA samples off of the stairs with as many times as my kids and I have barked our shins on those stupid sharp things. Anyway enjoy your remodel!

I would love to be able to say that my family room was "finished". I need new tables and would love a new chair. It just seems other things always come first.....like college tuition. Hope you get yours!

I'm thinking the same thing about the carpet in the basement, although down there it would be something laminate. I'm sick of the stinky carpet...two gatorade spills and it's over.

I'm going to get my decorating buzz from doing Jenna's apt. And she gets to pay! ha! I guess I need to start watching Design on a Dime and Decorating Cents.

Have fun!

I love hardwood floors! When we built our house I put them everywhere except the bathrooms.

Hope you'll post some before and after pictures!

Just stumbled upon your blog and can. not. believe. how much we have in common.
I too have been married for 23 years (in Aug.) have 2 sons, one daughter. 21,19,17 (girl in the middle, though) and we are on the edge of empy nesting although paying for 3 in college has us most likely home bound with no redecorating in the near future. However when I can "talk" him into it, it's so worth it to him. ;)
Looking forward to reading you.

Well? How did it go? Did your dream come true? Come on, post.

We're actually in Nashville, but have settled into our hotel room for the night and I'm enjoying some computer time while George enjoys some TV sport time. LOL

Hugs!

With three dogs and a cat, carpets don't stay nice very long in my house. Our downstairs is all hardwood, but the bedrooms have carpet. About 2 weeks ago I took a very large box cutter to the rugs in my daughters' bedrooms and RIPPED the carpet out. Now my husband and I are laying down hardwood floors. It's back breaking, but I am so damn happy to be rid of the stinky carpets. I wish I had loads of dough so we could pay someone to do all the work.
